Born in France where he studied graphic design.
Graduated after five years in 1989, then crossed the Atlantic to live in Montreal, Canada, to work as an illustrator.
Since, his work has appeared in major north American and European publications, and 30 illustrated books.
Some of his clients include The New York Times, for which he illustrated the Gray Matter section for almost two years, The Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, Rolling Stone, The New-Yorker, The Washington Post, Le Monde, XXI, The Guardian, Playboy, Entertainment Weekly, Harper’s, The Atlantic, Canada Post, Nike, Google, Isetan Department Store, Tim Robbin’s Actor’s Gang, Gallimard, Random House, Le Seuil, The Folio Society, (…), as well as many agencies, Paprika, BBDO, Sidlee, Publicis, Pentagram, etc…
His work has been awarded every single year in major contests for more than 25 years.
To mention a few, he received the Hamilton King Award and four gold medals, from the Society of Illustrators in New York, as well as the Illustrator of the Year of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London in 2022.
His books were awarded Best book of The New York Times in 2021, Canadian General Governor’s award in 2021, Bologna Ragazzi Award in the fiction category in 2022 and Book of the year by the Victoria &Albert Museum in London in 2022.
In 2018, Canada Post issued a stamp «Gerard DuBois», as part of The Great Canadian Illustrators series.
His original art has been exhibited in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Montreal, Toronto.
His acrylic are now in many private collections from Rolling Stone magazine to Stephen King, Guillermo Del Toro, V&A Museum, …
